Leave your shadow paces behind

Guitar is being practiced. I'm trying to follow this discipline. The proper bit starts at 4:27. Not that I'm venturing into bluegrass or anything, but 15 minutes a day seems doable and if it improves my picking technique it's only going to help.

In other fascinating news, a song that (one of) our band's guitarists and I wrote about 12 years ago has finally been finished, yay! It was painful but we got there.
It's weird, as we all had way more time when we were in our twenties, yet we've never been more motivated to record than now. Think it's because we're trying to fit it all in before we're officially 'middle-aged'. Anyway, the song is called In Our Eyes and goes a little something like this:

Published

So, I am proper published and 'everyfink' now

It's just a case of sitting back now and watching the royalties flood in, I expect.

The hard-copy CDs should arrive this week too, will post a pic up once received. I was quite pleased with the artwork that I submitted (and narrowly avoided a print with the wrong track list). In my mind, once the CD is received then it's the end of the project. What next? Well, i'm trying to play a bit more guitar to get slightly more competent at it, so that I can start writing some better songs. Not sure I'll aim for a complete solo album next time, it is far too much effort and does limit the music somewhat. 'Collaborative Effort' will be the theme of the next project.
A friend of mine is collating a covers for a tribute to Radiohead's Kid A, and has asked me to do one track, which I've started on (just so happens to be my favourite song off that album, quite handy). Sparked by that idea, I'm thinking of maybe drafting in a few for a 10-song Neil Young compilation. That's a pretty impressive back catalogue to choose from.

With best intentions

Ok, so I missed the 1.1.11 deadline. I tried, I really did but inevitably things like artwork, mastering and my laziness inevitably stalled my best endeavors.
Anyhoo, the mastering session is now completed and I anticipate the master cd to arrive this week. In the meantime the artwork is being finalized. And by finalized I mean I am learning how to use adobe Photoshop elements and thusly in a never-ending cycle of correcting my own mistakes. Fun.
I've found a company that duplicates CDs and artwork at a low volume (a 'little' below the minimum 1000 most companies offer) so should have the final, tangible product in my hands by the end of the month. Pretty exciting. Well, for me at least.

I'm finding it very hard to be objective about the overall impression of the songs themselves now as I've heard them A LOT. The Mrs and neighbours no doubt feel much the same. Whatever the opinion others have, I can at least say I've achieved what I set out to do. Having other people dig it would be a bonus though.
